Patch Poll: Vacant Stores in Garden City?

What would you like to see fill the empty shops in the village's business district?

Local businesses continue to struggle in Garden City and beyond.

is the latest business to close its doors in the village. According to trustee Dennis Donnelly, village board liaison to the business community, the real estate brokerage firm is closing by week's end.

At Thursday's board of trustees meeting, Garden City Chamber of Commerce executive director Althea Robinson, on behalf of John Wilton, who chairs the village's Merchants Committee, encouraged residents to "shop Garden City first," especially in light of the upcoming holiday season.

"I know it's tempting to go to Costco but we really need to spend our dollars at home," she said.

In Friday's Patch question, we want to hear what businesses you would like to see fill the vacancies? What stores do you think would work in your community?
