A car jacking Wednesday night in front of Houston's restaurant at Roosevelt Field Mall left a 21-year-old with stab wounds to his face, head and hand, according to Nassau County Third Squad detectives.

According to detectives, around 10:10 p.m. a 23-year-old male drove to Houston's to pick up his paycheck. He left his 2007 Mazda 3 -- NY registration ELW2091 -- running and unlocked with his 21-year-old friend sitting in the passenger seat.

Moments later, police say a "male Hispanic with a muscular build, wearing a long sleeved white thermal shirt, orange and green sweat pants and a baseball cap" entered the vehicle and began to drive off.

According to police, the suspect turned to the 21-year-old passenger and stated, “Are you going to get out?” When the victim said “No,” the suspect allegedly produced a black handled kitchen knife and stabbed the victim in his face, head and left hand.

After the attack, the victim opened his door and rolled out of the moving car onto the pavement as he observed the subject continue to drive southbound through the parking lot, police said.

The 21-year-old victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his stab wounds.

Detectives request anyone with information regarding this robbery to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
