The following arrest information was supplied by the Garden City Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.
July 30: Two bicycles were reported stolen from a garage to a Westminster Rd. residence.
Aug. 1: A stereo speaker valued at $500 was reported stolen from a shed at a Meadow St. residence.
Aug. 2: At 12:30 a.m., Officer Bandl stopped a vehicle traveling on Stewart Ave. and Roosevelt St. because its headlights were not lit. It was determined that the driver was wanted by NYPD for an outstanding warrant for marijuana possession. He was arrested and charged for the warrant as well as aggravated unlicensed operation for four active license suspensions and driving without headlights on.
Aug. 2: Officer Touhy arrested a male 44-year-old from Flushing for three counts possession of a forged instrument and two counts of grand larceny. On three occasions between July 31 and Aug. 2, the subject issued fraudulent checks totaling $50,000 to Eastern Numismatics Inc. to purchase property. On one occasion he received $15,000 in merchandise and on another occasion received $6,800 in merchandise. He was arrested after an investigation revealed that the checks were written from a nonexistent checking account.
Aug. 3: Two watches and loose change were stolen from a vehicle parked at a Roxbury Rd. residence. A GPS was stolen from a vehicle parked at a Meadbrook Rd. residence. A wallet and loose change were stolen from a vehicle parked at a Kildare Rd. residence.
Aug. 3: A U.S. postal mailbox on Adams St. was found ripped out of the ground and laying on its side.
Aug. 4: At 3:25 a.m., Officer Oswald stopped a vehicle on Meadow St. after observing it traveling westbound crossing over the center lane markings before turning unsafely without signaling onto Meadow Place. The driver, a male 28-year-old from Hempstead, was placed under arrest for DWI (.12 percent blood alcohol content). During the investigation at the scene the subject was determined to be in possession of a .22 caliber Derringer. The arrested subject was charged with possession of a weapon, felony DWI due to a prior DWI, aggravated unlicensed operation first degree (license was suspended for a prior DWI), two lane violations and unsafe turn. During the arrest processing of the subject, it was determined that he was also the subject of an outstanding New York State felony parole warrant.
Aug. 5: A bicycle was stolen from the driveway of a Wyatt Rd. residence.
Aug. 6: Officer Milito and Probation Officer Torres arrested a male 34-year-old from Garden City for driving his vehicle in Parking Field 9E while his license was suspended for a prior DWI arrest. The subject was driving to meet his probation officer for the prior DWI instead of securing another means of transportation. He was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation and uninsured operation.
Aug. 6: At approximately 10:30 a.m., Officer Sommer stopped a femalr 49-year-old from Garden City South for driving on Stewart Ave. in and out of lanes of traffic, without the headlights illuminated and for passing a red light. The driver was arrested for DWI (.08 percent blood alcohol content), passing a red light, lane violation, no headlights and unlicensed operation.
Aug. 7: Officer Sansone stopped a vehicle on Clinton Rd. and Garden St. for speeding (45 mph in a 30-mph zone). Upon an investigation, the driver, a male 32-year-old from East Elmhurst, was arrested for aggravated unlicensed operation for 11 outstanding driver's license suspensions, speeding, unregistered operation, uninsured operation and unregistered vehicle.
Aug. 7: Officer Sansone stopped a vehicle on Clinton Rd. at Brook St. for a cracked windshield. The driver, a female 35-year-old from Uniondale, was subsequently arrested for aggravated unlicensed operation (eight open license suspensions), suspended registration, the broken windshield, unregistered vehicle, uninspected vehicle and uninsured operation.
Aug. 7: Rocks were thrown at three Railroad businesses causing damage to their glass windows and doors.
