Crime Blotter: Walk Street Spray Painted

Police report red spray paint was found on the front of the establishment and on outdoor dining tables.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Garden City Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Aug. 8: A gray sedan occupied by four males struck a parked vehicle and then left the scene without stopping. The driver’s side of the parked vehicle was damaged.

Aug. 8: Loose money was removed from a vehicle parked at a Brixton Rd. residence.

Aug. 8: At 1:16 a.m., four Garden City males, ages 18-19, were issued appearance tickets for trespassing in a village park after closing.

Aug. 8: A Garden City detective and Officer Laurita stopped a vehicle for an unsafe turn on New Hyde Park Rd. at Clinch Ave. and upon their investigation, the driver, a male 25-year-old from Garden City, was arrested for possession of heroin and the unsafe turn.

Aug. 9: A tire, including the rim and lug nuts, were removed from a vehicle parked in Field 7S.

Aug. 9: Red spray paint was found on the front of Walk Street and on tables belonging to the establishment.

Aug. 10: The department is investigating an incident where a forged check was used to remove $15,000 from a personal bank account.

Aug. 10: Officers responded to a Wickham Rd. residence for a report of a burglary alarm. Upon their arrival, a rear window was found partially pried open. There was no entry into the residence and the alarm system activation apparently caused the suspect(s) to flee the scene.

Aug. 11: At approximately 10:20 p.m., officers responded to a report of disorderly youths on Meadbrook Road which resulted in the issuance of appearance tickets to three Garden City males, ages 16-17, for possession of alcohol (beer).

Aug. 11: Detectives are conducting an investigation where counterfeit money was used to buy a pocketbook valued at $549 at Lord & Taylor.

Aug. 12: Officer Russell stopped a vehicle on Stewart Ave. for a defective headlight. An investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, a male 23-year-old from Queens Village, and a passenger, a male 21-year-old from Hempstead, for the possession of marijuana.

Aug. 12: A GPS valued at $200 was stolen from a vehicle parked at a Cambridge Ave. residence. A GPS valued at $200 was stolen from a vehicle parked at a Chestnut St. residence. A GPS valued at $150 was stolen from a vehicle parked at a Primrose Court residence. An iPod Shuffle was stolen from a vehicle parked at a Primrose Ct. residence. Other vehicles in the vicinity of these locations were entered but no items were apparently taken.

Aug. 13: A laptop computer valued at $600 was taken from an outdoor dining table at Starbucks Coffee.

Aug. 13: Officers responded to two traffic light outages: 1) Franklin Ave. at Fifteenth St.; 2) Old Country Rd. at County Seat Dr.

Aug. 14: Someone entered a vehicle parked at a Stewart Ave. residence by breaking the driver side window and removing an iPhone from within.

Aug. 14: The department is investigating an incident where a vehicle stopped at a red light on Main St. was struck from behind by another auto which then proceeded to flee the scene without stopping. There were no injuries reported.

It just saddens me to think some may not voice their opinion in the future because of the rather harsh comments which I'm sure were just meant to get a point across rather than be hurtful. Garden City residents are not afraid to get involved, to stand up for what they believe in and I am proud to live here.

Thank you GcSupporter#2 I love quotes! tells so much about the person and their beliefs and life...IRead More had to look up Principal Joe Clark after that....definitely a man I'd like to learn more about. I always try to use quotes with my children and their school work - I think the spoken and written word of others is so important!
