Crime Blotter: Garden City Teen Busted for Selling Marijuana

Detectives arrest 16-year-old after an investigation in the vicinity of Franklin Avenue.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Garden City police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Jan. 18: A wallet was removed from a vehicle parked at a Transverse Road residence. A GPS device was removed from a vehicle parked at a Linden Street residence. Other vehicles parked in the vicinity of these residences were entered with no reported theft at this time.

Jan. 18: A male 21-year-old from Syosset, working for an approved solicitation agency, was issued an appearance ticket for soliciting at a residence listed on the village’s non-solicitation list.

Jan. 18: A lock to a gym locker at the New York Sports Club was removed and a wallet containing a credit cards and cash was found missing.

Jan. 19: A male 50-year-old from Garden City was arrested for aggravated DWI (.18 percent blood alcohol content) and for a lane violation after being stopped on Chestnut Street and Magnolia Avenue for erratic driving.

Jan. 19: Officer Sansone observed a suspicious vehicle in the vicinity of Avalon Road. The rear plate was covered in a manner to avoid detection. The vehicle was stopped and upon an investigation it was determined that the registration to the vehicle was from North Carolina. In addition, the registration was suspended and the vehicle was not insured. The vehicle was then impounded and the driver, a male 38-year-old from Lawrence, was cited for suspended registration, uninsured operation and obstructed license plate.

Jan. 20: Garden City detectives arrested a male 20-year-old from Westbury for a burglary that occurred in 2009 on Russell Road. The arrest was based on evidence gathered during the lengthy investigation which included matches on DNA initially collected at the scene of the crime.

Jan. 20: A Garden City Plaza business reports that someone cashed two forged company checks totaling more that $1,600.

Jan. 21: As a result of an investigation conducted in the vicinity of Franklin Avenue, Garden City detectives arrested a male 16-year-old from Garden City for two counts of selling marijuana.

Jan. 22: Officer Oswald stopped a male 26-year-old from Westbury driving his vehicle on Clinton Road at Old Country Road not signaling lane changes and for driving over the center lane markings. He was arrested for DWI (.09 percent blood alcohol content), three lane violations and uninsured operation.

Jan. 22: A vehicle parked at a Garden Street residence was rummaged through. No reported loss.

Jan. 23: The driver’s side window, mirror and door to a vehicle parked in the Garden City Plaza parking field were found damaged. Total damage is in excess of $500.

Jan. 23: Police conducted a commercial vehicle inspection on Clinton Road, inspecting 16 vehicles, placing eight out of service and issuing 82 tickets for various traffic and safety violations, including eight for weight violations.

Jan. 25: An unknown amount of money was removed from a vehicle parked at a Rockaway Avenue residence.
