Crime Blotter: Car Break-Ins, Vandalism and a House Fire

A look at this week's alleged crimes, reported by the Garden City Police Department.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Garden City Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

June 25
: Officers responded to traffic light malfunctions on Old Country Road at Franklin Avenue and on Cherry Valley Avenue at Stewart Avenue.

June 26: Loose money was stolen from a vehicle parked on Pine Street. Other vehicles on Clinton Road, Euston Road and Brook Street were entered with no reported loss at this time.

June 27: Unknown persons committed vandalism by removing fireproof coating from support beams in the underground parking garage of the Wyndham condominiums.  

June 27: The passenger side of a vehicle was damaged while it was parked outside a Franklin Avenue business.

June 28: Officers assisted the Garden City Fire Department with a residential fire on Meadow Street.

June 29: Money ($54) was stolen from a vehicle parked on Spruce Street. Other vehicles on Osborne Road, Old Country Road and Huntington Road were entered and reported the theft of small amounts of change and currency.

June 30: Seven youths were ticketed for being in Community Park after posted hours. Two youths were from West Hempstead, four were from Franklin Square and one from Elmont.

June 30: A Garden City resident was issued a summons in PF9E for an open bottle of Captain Morgan Rum.

July 2: At approximately 6 a.m. Officer Russell observed a 2002 Ford Van traveling eastbound on Old Country Road in excess of the posted speed limit. The vehicle was stopped and the male operator was found to have a suspended license. The license was confiscated and the driver was issued summonses for several vehicle and traffic law violations.
