Crime Blotter: Detectives Looking for Subject Who Allegedly Ran Over Sanitation Employee's Foot

Subject, who was driving a blue/grey auto, fled the scene without stopping, according to police.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Garden City police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

June 27: Someone rummaged through two vehicles parked in a Stewart Avenue driveway but nothing was apparently taken.

June 27: Garden City detectives were conducting a narcotics investigation on Old Country Road which resulted in the arrest of a male 24-year-old from East Farmingdale for the possession of numerous glassine bags containing alleged heroin.

June 28: Garden City detectives arrested four Queens men in Garden City at 4:13 a.m. According to the the detectives, defendants Edward Collins, 43, of Ridgewood, Robert Ebert, 31, of Woodhaven, Idlefonso Marrero, 39, of Ridgewood, and Phillip Serrano, 36, of Queens Village, attempted to burglarize Neptune Camera located at 130 7th Street. Defendants Ebert and Collins placed large garbage cans in front of the store to place stolen items into while defendants Marrero and Serrano circled the block in a 2001 Ford acting as lookouts. Collins and Ebert were startled by a passerby and entered a stolen 2002 Dodge leaving the parking lot followed by the defendants in the Ford. All defendants circled the store numerous times and eventually met in the rear parking lot where they entered the Ford. The vehicle was stopped by the Garden City detectives where a mask, gloves, screwdriver and adjustable wrench were recovered. The defendants were all charged with criminal possession of stolen property, third degree (the
stolen auto), burglary, third degree (Attempt), and possession of burglary tools. In addition, Serrano was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, third degree. The subjects were arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead June 29.

June 28: Garden City detectives are looking for a driver of a blue/grey auto that ran over the foot of a sanitation employee as he was stepping off a sanitation truck on Brook Street and then fled the scene
without stopping. The sanitation employee suffered a minor foot injury. The driver of the auto is described as a male white, 30-40 years old, unshaven, short dark hair, muscular build with a large tattoo
on his upper left arm. Anyone with information is asked to call the Garden city detectives at 465-4109.

June 29: A landscaping light valued at $100 was removed from the lawn of an Osborne Road residence.

June 29: Someone forcibly entered a vehicle parked at the Merillon Avenue train station by breaking a side window and removed a GPS unit valued at $250. The damage to the vehicle was approximately $750.

July 1: An MP3 player and a GPS device were taken from a vehicle parked in an Avalon Road driveway.

July 2: Officer Milito responded to a report of a one-vehicle accident on Cambridge Avenue where a vehicle struck a concrete barrier at the intersection of Terrace Avenue. The vehicle sustained substantial damage; however the driver did not appear to be injured. Upon his investigation, Officer Milito arrested the driver, a male 52-year-old from Franklin Square, for DWI (.15 percent blood alcohol content) and criminal possession of a controlled substance (two packets of alleged heroin).

July 3: While on patrol on Franklin Avenue and Seventh Street, Sergeant Jacobsen observed a male and female in a heated argument. Upon his investigation, it was determined that the male, age 20 from Baldwin, had pushed his girlfriend, a female 18-year-old from Roslyn Heights, and bit her in the hand. The subject attempted
to flee the scene by running south on Franklin Avenue. After a short chase, he was apprehended by Officers Dallolio and Oswald at which time he resisted arrest. He was charged with harassment,
resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration.

July 3: Someone threw a soda bottle through the rear window of a vehicle parked at a Brook Street residence.

July 4: Officers responded to 10 reports of fireworks at various locations throughout the village.

July 4: Officer Caputo arrested a male 31-year-old from Hempstead on Meadow Street after it was determined that he continually grabbed and pushed his wife before removing her pocketbook from her arm. He was charged with grand larceny and harassment.

July 4: Two female subjects and one male subject entered T-Mobile on Old Country Road. One of the females then removed a Motorola Bluetooth from a display and fled the store with the other two subjects before entering a vehicle waiting for them. The value of the stolen item is $60.

July 4: A female 49-year-old was issued an appearance ticket for a party at her Cambridge Avenue residence. Numerous youths had attended the party where alcohol was found on the premise.

July 4: Officer Oswald stopped a male 24-year-old from Mineola after observing him driving his auto on the wrong side of the center lane markings. Upon investigation, the subject was arrested for DWI (.16 percent blood alcohol content), two unsafe lane violations, unlicensed operation and uninsured vehicle.

July 5: Officer Wehr stopped a vehicle on Stewart Avenue and Nassau Boulevard for an expired inspection sticker. The subject was placed under arrest when it was determined that he had five open NY
driver's license suspensions, a suspended registration and no insurance.
