Crime Blotter: Drugs, Light Malfunctions, Identity Theft

A look at this week's alleged crimes, reported by the Garden City Police Department.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Garden City Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

June 7: A silver auto struck and damaged a vehicle parked in Garden City Plaza before leaving the scene.

June 13: Officers responded to a traffic light malfunction on Old Country Road at County Seat Drive.

June 13: A tire to a vehicle parked in front of a Harrison Street residence was found damaged.

June 13: While on patrol, an officer discovered a parked unoccupied vehicle that was reported stolen from a location in Hempstead on June 5.

June 14: Officers responded to a traffic light malfunction on Franklin Avenue at Eleventh Street.

June 14: A joint investigation between the Garden City Police Department and Wells Fargo Bank resulted in the arrest of a female 49-year-old from Brooklyn for identity theft, grand larceny, possession of a forged instrument and an open New York Parole Administrative Warrant. On June 13, the subject made an unauthorized withdrawal of $6,000 using a forged license of another. She was arrested on June 14 when she returned to the bank to make more unauthorized transactions.

June 14: A swing was stolen from a Kensington Road residence.

June 14: Detectives are investigating an identity theft complaint where an unknown person attempted to obtain an unauthorized credit card using another person’s name.

June 14: A watch was stolen from a vehicle parked on First Street. 

June 14: Two 18-year-old Garden City males were issued appearance tickets for possession of alcohol (beer) on Nassau Boulevard.

June 15: Detectives are investigating an identity theft complaint where an unknown person made several online transactions using another’s person’s online account.

June 15: Officer Sansone stopped a vehicle at Meadow Street for speeding (45 MPH) southbound on Clinton Road. It was determined that the driver, a male 29-year-old from Hempstead, had five license suspensions for failure to answer traffic tickets and one administrative license revocation. The subject was subsequently arrested for two counts of driving with a revoked license, unlicensed operation, speeding and two equipment violations.

June 17: Officers were assigned to a traffic light malfunction on Clinton Road and St. James Street South.

June 16: Detectives stopped a vehicle for passing a Stop sign Willow Street and Boylston Street. An investigation at scene resulted in the driver, a male 44-year-old from Williston Park, being arrested for driving with a suspended license, driving with a suspended registration, possession of alleged crack cocaine and passing a Stop sign.

June 17: Officers were assigned to a traffic light malfunction on Franklin Avenue at Eleventh Street.

June 17: Lt. Thorn stopped a male 51-year-old from Elmont for speeding (51 MPH) and almost striking a pedestrian on Franklin Avenue and Fourth Street. The driver was then arrested for one felony count and two misdemeanor counts of aggravated unlicensed operation for having 15 open driver's license suspensions and two DWI related suspensions.

June 17: As the result of an investigation on Pell Terrace in the vicinity of Clinton Road, Garden City detectives arrested a male 19-year-old from Garden City for misdemeanor possession of alleged marijuana.

June 17: Officers responded to a two-vehicle property damage accident on Ring Road where one of the vehicles left the scene without stopping.

June 18: A GPS and two cell phones were removed from a vehicle parked at a Third Street residence. Loose change was removed from a vehicle parked at a Cathedral Avenue residence.

June 18: Light fixtures and lawn ornaments were found damaged at four Locust Street residences.
