Crime Blotter: Elmont Man Jumps on Tracks at Nassau Boulevard Station

Police charged him with trespassing.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Garden City police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Dec. 15: The department monitored demonstrations from approximately 25 members of “Occupy Wall Street” at various financial institutions on Franklin Avenue and Seventh Street. The demonstrations were conducted without incident.

Dec. 15: Nassau County detectives arrested three subjects in Hempstead for robbery and assault that occurred on Stowe Place. It was then determined that two of these subjects, A male 17-year-old from Garden City and a male 19-year-old from Hempstead, were wanted in a joint investigation with the Garden City Police Department for a robbery that occurred on Meadow Street Nov. 21. On that date, the two subjects had arranged online to meet with the victim, a male 17-year-old from Hempstead, on Meadow Street to buy a pair of shoes from him. They then went to that location where one of them simulated that he had a gun and then forcibly took the sneakers from the victim.

Dec. 15: Officer Hennessy arrested a male 41-year-old from Mineola for the theft of a $995 men’s coat from Lord & Taylor.

Dec. 15: Police conducted a commercial vehicle inspection on Clinton Road, inspecting 12 trucks, placing nine out of service and issuing 72 tickets for traffic and safety violations, including three weight violations.

Dec. 16: Officer Reilly arrested an Elmont male for trespass in the vicinity of the Nassau Boulevard train station. The subject was observed being disorderly at the station before he jumped off a train platform on to the track bed. The subject then continued to walk along the railroad tracks before being apprehended.

Dec. 17: At 12:50 a.m. Officer Florio observed a female 51-year-old from Bluffton, SC, driving her vehicle south on Cherry Valley Avenue making an unsafe wide right turn on to Stewart Avenue. He then observed the vehicle continue driving west on Stewart Avenue drifting from lane to lane. She was stopped and subsequently arrested for aggravated DWI (.19 percent blood alcohol content), unsafe lane changes and criminal possession of a controlled substance (Dilaudid).

Dec. 17: Money was removed from a vehicle parked at a Maxwell Road residence. Other vehicles in the vicinity were entered but there were no reported losses.

Dec. 18: Holiday lawn ornaments were stolen from the property of a Lydia Lane residence.

Dec. 18: Police report a domestic incident arrest in which Officer Reynolds arrested a male 28-year-old from Mineola for attempted grand larceny. He was observed going through his ex-girlfriend’s vehicle at her residence, looking for gifts he had purchased for her. He attempted to flee the area but was apprehended by Officer Reynolds at the Merillon Avenue train station.

Dec. 18: Two driveway lamps were found damaged at a Yale Street residence.

Dec. 18: Two tires and rims were reported stolen from a vehicle parked at a Vassar Street residence.

Dec. 19: Officer Oswald observed a male 29-year-old from Hempstead driving north on Cathedral Avenue failing to signal lane changes and also for drifting over the center lane markings. He stopped the driver and arrested him for DWI (.12 percent blood alcohol content). He was charged with a felony due to being convicted of DWI stemming from an arrest by the Garden City police for the same offense in March/2011. He was also charged with three lane violations, uninsured operation, felony aggravated unlicensed operation and for not wearing a safety belt.

Dec. 19: The police department is investigating an incident at a residence on Grove Street were it was entered unlawfully, several rooms were ransacked and assorted jewelry items were reported stolen. A rear kitchen window to the residence was found broken.

Dec. 19: A laptop computer was removed from a vehicle parked at a Roxbury Road residence.
