Crime Blotter: Heroin Bust, Missing Elderly Woman and Harassment

A look at this week's alleged crimes, reported by the Garden City Police Department.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Garden City Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

March 04: An unknown person filed an unauthorized tax return in the name of a resident.

March 5: The department is investigating a three-vehicle accident on Stewart Avenue at Westminster Road, where one of the vehicles, described as a gray van, left the scene without exchanging information. One person received minor injuries as a result of the accident.

March 5: An elderly lost female from Mineola was found on Garfield Street and reunited with her family.

March 5: Officers responded to a traffic light malfunction on Old Country Road at Washington Avenue.

March 6: A parked vehicle was entered on Fourth Street. At this time no items are reported missing.

March 7: An East Drive resident returned home to find a deadbolt and doorknob to an exterior door damaged. The residence did not appear to be entered. The investigation is continuing.

March 9: After observing a vehicle pass a red light on Second Street at Hilton Avenue, Officer Dallolio arrested a male 38-year-old from Elmont for three counts of aggravated unlicensed operation due to 10 suspensions and disregarding a traffic signal.

March 9: Over $800 in assorted handbags, purses and jewelry were discovered missing from a store on Seventh Street.

March 9: Officer Reilly arrested a female 17-year-old from West Hempstead for leaving the scene of an accident after striking a parked vehicle in Parking Field 9W. She was also charged with violation of junior license driving restrictions.

March 9: The department is conducting an investigation at Sears where an unknown person made two unauthorized charges against another person’s credit account totaling $600 in loss.

March 10: After stopping a vehicle for an unsafe lane change on southbound Clinton Road and Brook Street, Officer Marceda arrested the driver, a male 24-year-old from Roosevelt, for aggravated unlicensed operation due to three license suspensions, the unsafe lane change and uninsured operation.

March 11: Garden City police officers, aides and Special Police officers assisted the MTA Police with numerous railroad crossing closures throughout the village along the Hempstead Line due to the arrival of the circus train.

March 11: Officer Caputo arrested a female 55-year-old from Rockville Centre for the theft of watches, a scarf and jewelry totaling more than $500 in value from Sears.

March 11: Officer Reilly arrested a female 51-year-old from East Meadow for the theft of $340 in assorted merchandise from Lord & Taylor.

March 11: Detectives arrested a male 65-year-old from Old Brookville for harassment due to a domestic incident that occurred on Feb. 16 at a business office in Garden City Plaza.

March 12: Vehicles were entered on Russell Road, Claydon Road, Huntington Road and Kingsbury Road. Property removed from the vehicles included a knapsack, credit cards, an iPod and loose change/currency.

March 12: A joint investigation between Garden City detectives and Nassau County detectives led to the arrest of a male 28-year-old from Bellport for criminal sale and possession of a controlled substance (heroin).
