Crime Blotter: Jewelry Stolen From Sackville Road Home

A rear window was found pried open and several pieces of jewelry were discovered missing from a first floor bedroom, according to police.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Garden City Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Nov. 27: An iPod was removed from a vehicle parked at an Oxford Road residence and loose change was removed from a vehicle parked at a Whitehall Blvd. residence.

Nov. 28: A Franklin Avenue business reports that three fraudulent checks in the company’s name were cashed for a total of $1,297.

Nov. 28: A rear window to a vehicle parked at Garden City Plaza was found damaged.

Nov. 27: Garden City detectives arrested a female 45-year-old and a female 22-year-old for filing false police reports. The subjects had responded to Garden City Headquarters earlier in the day to state that someone had stolen their ATM card which was used to make fraudulent transactions. The subjects were arrested after the detectives’ investigation determined the report to be false.

Nov. 28: Officers responded to a traffic light malfunction on Stewart Avenue at Cherry Valley Avenue.

Nov. 29: A joint investigation by bank staff and Officer Walsh resulted in the arrest of a female 49-year-old from Garden City South for attempting to cash a forged check of another person in the amount of $2,500 at the 7th Street Chase Bank branch. The investigation was initiated when it was determined that the signature on the check did not match the signature on file with the bank.

Nov. 29: A commercial vehicle inspection on New Hyde Park Road inspected 15 vehicles, placing four out of service. There were 85 tickets issued for various traffic and safety violations, including five weight violations and two defective brake violations.

Nov. 30: The police department is investigating an incident at a Sackville Road residence where a rear window was found pried open and several pieces of jewelry were discovered missing from a first floor bedroom.

Dec. 1: Someone entered a vehicle parked on Fourth Street and damaged the latch to the glove box.

Dec. 1: A tip jar was reported stolen from Starbucks on Seventh Street.

Dec. 2: Officers responded to a Fourth Street residence for a report of youths drinking. Upon arrival, the officers determined that several underage youths were consuming alcohol in the garage. The homeowner, a male 46-year-old, was cited for violation of the Nassau County Social Host Law.

Dec. 2: Officer Oswald stopped a male 18-year-old from Pennsylvania for driving his vehicle northbound to the left of the center double yellow lines on Franklin Avenue. Upon an investigation, the subject was arrested for driving while impaired by drugs. In addition, the subject was found to be in possession of numerous illegal substances and was further charged with six counts of possession of controlled substances (numerous pills of methamphetamine, LSD, Prozac, diazepam, amphetamine and Venlafaxine). He was also charged with possession of marijuana and two traffic violations.

Dec. 2: Upon the investigation of a domestic incident at a Garden City residence, Officer Reilly arrested a female 40-year-old for criminal contempt after it was determined that the subject violated a behavioral stipulation in an order of protection issued by a Family Court judge.

Dec. 2: Detectives report the arrest of a second subject, a male 21-year-old from East Meadow, for a burglary in Garden City. A male 19-year-old from Hicksville was previously arrested by detectives for this incident on Nov. 24. These arrests were facilitated by evidence detected at the scene of the incident by Garden City police officers and processed by Nassau Police Crime Scene detectives.

Dec. 3: An iPhone and case were taken from a gym bag in the Adelphi University gym.

Dec. 4: At approximately 12:45 p.m., Officer Sommer responded to Franklin Avenue at Fourth Street for a report of a two-vehicle property damage accident. Upon his investigation, one of the drivers, a female 31-year-old from Elmont, was placed under arrest for driving while impaired on drugs. She was also charged with possession of marijuana.
