Crime Blotter: Suspicious Male Arrested on Seventh Street

Busted with a bottle of Oxycodone, according to police.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Garden City police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Aug. 24: Someone rummaged through an unlocked vehicle on 4th Place. No loss reported at this time.

Aug. 24: Officer Touhy arrested a male 25-year-old from Flushing for the theft of two athletic T-shirts valued at $76 from Lord & Taylor. The subject had originally purchased two packages of multiple T-shirts but removed one shirt from each package before returning the packages to the store for a full refund.

Aug. 25: Loose change was removed from unlocked autos at two Osborne Road residences. A Garmin GPS was taken from an unlocked vehicle parked at a Washington Avenue residence.

Aug. 25: Garden City detectives, along with Nassau County probation officers, participated in the statewide Night Watch Project by visiting several residents in the village who were on probation for various offenses. Two subjects were found to be in violation of one or more conditions of their probation and are now subject to further review by the probation department.

Aug. 25: Spray painted graffiti was found on an exterior wall to the Americana gas station on New Hyde Park Road.

Aug. 25: Between 3:30 and 5 p.m., a bicycle valued at $200 was stolen from a Garden Street garage.

Aug. 8-26: A Schwinn bicycle was stolen from an unlocked garage on Second Street.

Aug. 26: A Meadow Street resident reports that someone entered his unlocked auto by breaking the passenger side window and removed a wallet containing $120 and credit cards.

Aug. 27: An Old Country Road resident reports a burglary at his residence during the early evening hours.

Aug. 27: Officers responded to an Arthur Street residence where two family members were suffering from apparent natural gas exposure. The officers smelt the odor when they entered the residence. The fire department responded to the scene and rendered the area safe. Both family members were transported to Winthrop-University Hospital for treatment.

Aug. 28: A flashlight and prepaid toll vouchers were stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked on Franklin Court.

Aug. 29: Officers Bandl and Reilly responded to a report of a suspicious male following people on Seventh Street. They arrived at the scene and upon their investigation they arrested the suspicious person, a male 44-year-old from Long Beach, for the illegal possession of a bottle of Oxycodone.

Aug. 29: Officers responded to a Garden City residence for a report of a domestic incident. Upon arrival, the officers assisted a female victim who states that her husband had tackled her on her front lawn and punched her several times in the face. The victim suffered an injured shoulder and facial contusions. It was determined that the husband had left the scene prior to the officers’ arrival. The victim was transported to Winthrop Hospital for treatment. Approximately two hours after this incident, Officer Dallolio observed the husband, a male 50-year-old, driving his vehicle near his residence. The officer stopped the vehicle and placed the subject under arrest for assault.

Aug. 30: Several unlocked vehicles parked on Pell Terrace and Avalon Road were rummaged through during the overnight hours. Nothing was taken from most of the vehicles; however a checkbook and a GPS were removed from one of the vehicles and $100 was removed from another vehicle.

Aug. 30: A front window to a vehicle parked at a Jefferson Street residence was found damaged.
