Crime Blotter: Suspicious Man Arrested on Meadow St. During Power Outage

The 43-year-old Hempstead man was arrested for outstanding Long Beach warrants for DWI and aggravated unlicensed operation.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Garden City Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Nov. 6: Garden City officers monitored the polling areas located in the village and at some locations assisted with pedestrian traffic due to power outages as a result of Superstorm Sandy.

Nov. 9: While on special patrol in residential areas that were without power, Officer Sansone observed a suspicious male on Wetherill Road. Upon an investigation, the subject, a male 38-year-old from Mineola, was arrested for an outstanding Nassau County Family Court warrant.
 
Nov. 10: While on special patrol in residential areas that were without power, Officer Walsh observed a male several times on Meadow Street acting suspiciously. Upon an investigation, the subject, a male 43-year-old from Hempstead, was arrested for outstanding Long Beach warrants for DWI and aggravated unlicensed operation.

Nov. 11: Garden City police officers and Special Police officers assisted the U.S. Veterans Day ceremonies at the Veteran Monuments located on 7th Street and Rainbow Plaza.

Nov. 11: Officer Sommer observed a male 41-year-old from Mineola driving a Porsche recklessly on Old Country Road at a high rate of speed (80 MPH in a 20 MPH zone), unsafely moving from lane to lane and passing other motorists on the right shoulder. He was stopped on Mineola Blvd. and arrested for reckless driving, speeding and four counts of lane usage violations.
 
Nov. 11: Officer Sommer was investigating a call on Franklin Avenue where it was reported that youths were throwing snow/ice balls at moving cars. Upon arrival at the scene a snowball struck the officer’s vehicle. A male 16-year-old from Brooklyn was subsequently arrested and cited for disorderly conduct.

Nov. 12: A wallet containing credit cards was reported stolen from the Adelphi University library.

Nov. 12: Loose change was removed from a vehicle parked on First Street.

Nov. 12: Officers were assigned to a railroad gate malfunction at the New Hyde Park Road Main Line crossing.

Nov. 13: Officer Roumeliotis arrested a male 23-year-old from Queens for criminal trespass at Adelphi University. The subject had been advised in the past not to return to the campus based on two prior arrests.
