Crime Blotter: Residential Burglaries on Clinton, Osborne Roads

Laptops, assorted jewelry, a car and money reported stolen, cops said.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Garden City Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Nov. 12: A wallet was stolen from a room in a Garden City Plaza business office.

Nov. 13: Officer Marceda stopped a truck on Washington Avenue for a covered license plate. As a result, the driver, a 40-year-old man from Brooklyn, was arrested and charged with driving while having eight driver license suspensions and uninsured operation.

Nov. 13: Officer Hennessy arrested a 24-year-old North Baldwin man for the theft of a cell phone from a counter area in the Adelphi University gym during a basketball game.

Nov. 13: Someone broke the door handle to a vehicle parked in the Garden City Plaza area.

Nov. 14: A street sign was found damaged at the corner of Salisbury Avenue and Roxbury Road.

Nov. 15: At approximately 8:30 p.m. officers responded to a residential alarm call on Second Street and another alarm call to a residence on Washington Avenue. Both residences had damage to rear doors. There appears to be no entry or loss at either residence. The alarms to each residence apparently caused the subject(s) to flee the area. Later in the evening, officers responded to a Clinton Road residence where a rear window was found damaged. Subject(s) entered the residence and removed laptop computers and assorted jewelry.

Nov. 15: Several phones were purchased without authorization using a resident’s wireless account information.

Nov. 15: Officer Punch arrested a 42-year-old Saudi Arabian man for falsely reporting an incident for allegedly pulling a fire alarm at the Garden City Hotel. Read the full story here.

Nov. 16: A 2003 Lincoln parked in Parking Field 7S was reported stolen. The owner had started the car to warm up and when he returned the vehicle was missing.

Nov. 16: Officer Russell stopped a speeding auto (60 MPH) on Herricks Road. The subject, a 52-year-old man from Roslyn, was charged with driving while his license was suspended, speeding, failure to wear a seatbelt and uninsured operation.

Nov. 16: Officer Walsh arrested a 56-year-old woman from Bellerose for the theft of merchandise valued at $45 from Sears.

Nov. 17: Unlocked vehicles were entered at residences on Pine Street, Franklin Court, Willow Street and Pine Street. Stolen property included a wallet, loose change, a GPS and an iPad.

Nov. 17: Officer Oswald arrested a 28-year-old man from Huntington Station on Clinton Road and Vanderbilt Court for DWI (.15 percent blood alcohol content), driving with two driver license suspensions, two lane violations and speeding (45 MPH).

Nov. 18: Officers responded to a traffic light malfunction at Old Country Road and Franklin Avenue.

Nov. 18: Officers responded to a call from an alert resident from Garden Street for a car alarm sounding off and subjects going through cars. Officer Oswald responded to the area and observed a suspect attempting to flee the area. Read the full story here.

Nov. 18: Officers investigated a burglary at an Osborne Road residence. The side door to the residence was found damaged. Items stolen included: car keys, money and jewelry. The keys were then used to take a 2013 Honda from the driveway.

Nov. 18: Officers also investigated an incident on Locust Street where a rear window to a residence was found damaged. The premise was apparently entered, but there is no reported loss at this time.

Nov. 18: Officers responded to a railroad gate malfunction at the Hilton Avenue crossing.

Nov. 19: A resident reports an unauthorized cell phone account was opened using her identity and credit information.

Nov. 19: At approximately 7:45 p.m. a 23-year old woman was walking home from the Merillon Avenue Train Station when she was approached from behind on Somerset Avenue in the vicinity of Weyford Terrace by an unknown male subject. The victim was pushed to the ground and her pocketbook was stolen. Read the full story here.
