Crime Blotter: Locust Street Burglary, Stolen Car

A look at this week's alleged crimes, reported by the Garden City Police Department.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Garden City Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Oct. 3
:  Officers were assigned to monitor and assist with the annual senior health expo held at the St. Paul’s Field House.

Oct. 3: Officers responded to a railroad gate malfunction at the Cathedral Avenue crossing.

Oct. 3: Officer Sansone stopped a vehicle for passing a Stop sign on Fenimore Avenue and Tanners Pond Road. Upon an investigation, the vehicle was impounded, and the driver, a 22-year-old man from Hempstead, was charged with driving with a suspended registration, unlicensed operation, unregistered operation, uninsured vehicle, uninspected vehicle and passing a Stop sign.

Oct. 4: Officer Reilly arrested a 26-year-old woman from West Hempstead for the theft of $440 in merchandise from Lord & Taylor.

Oct. 5: Officer Russell stopped a vehicle traveling south on Nassau Boulevard for aggressive driving violations. He was subsequently arrested for DWI (.14 percent blood alcohol content), speeding and unsafe lane use.

Oct. 5: Officer Conti issued an appearance ticket to a 63-year-old man from Garden City for littering on Seventh Street.

Oct. 5: Officer Reilly arrested a 31-year-old woman from Freeport for the theft of $302 in merchandise from Lord & Taylor.

Oct. 5: Garden City detectives arrested a 59-year-old man from Old Westbury for making a threatening phone call to a resident.

Oct. 6: A Locust Street residence was entered during the overnight hours where electronic equipment and a handbag were removed from the kitchen. A patio door was found partially open and a screen was found to be removed from a window. The residents were apparently asleep during the incident. The victim's vehicle in the driveway was also rummaged through. Other vehicles were also entered at nearby residences on Locust Street and Brook Street where money and electronic devices were reported stolen. The investigation is continuing.

Oct. 7: Officer Reilly arrested a 45-year-old woman from Valley Stream for the theft of $403 in merchandise from Lord & Taylor.

Oct. 7: Police conducted a commercial vehicle inspection on Clinton Road, inspecting 10 vehicles, placing seven out of service and issuing 73 tickets for safety and traffic violations, including 23 overweight violations, a loose body frame violation, two unsecured load/equipment violations and a leaking fluid violation.

Oct. 7: Two tires to a vehicle parked at the Cherry Valley Country Club were found slashed.

Oct. 8: Keys were stolen from a desk drawer at a Franklin Avenue business office.

Oct. 8: A 2010 Toyota valued at $18,000 was reported stolen from the Walgreen's parking field.

Oct. 8: Officer Bandl conducted a traffic investigation on Clinton Road where the driver, a 57-year-old woman from Levittown, was charged with driving with a suspended license, a revoked license, unregistered auto, uninspected auto and uninsured auto. The vehicle was also impounded.
