Crime Blotter: Nursery School Windows Damaged by BB Pellets

Two windows at Garden City Community Church found damaged, police said.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Garden City Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Feb. 6: Officer Sansone was conducting speed enforcement on Meadow Street when he stopped a vehicle for speeding at 45 MPH. Upon an investigation, it was determined that the driver had no NY license and the vehicle’s Maryland registration was suspended. The vehicle was impounded and the driver, a male 34-year-old from Hempstead, was cited for suspended registration, unlicensed operation, speeding, unregistered auto, uninspected auto and uninsured operation.

Feb. 6: Officers responded to a traffic light malfunction on Old Country Road at Washington Avenue.

Feb. 6: The department is investigating an incident at Lord & Taylor where a female subject returned merchandise purchased at another Lord & Taylor store where seven counterfeit $100 bills were used to pay for the merchandise.

Feb. 7: As a result of ongoing investigations, Garden City detectives arrested a male 22-year-old from Uniondale at a Garden City location for felony sale and felony possession of ecstasy. In addition, a male 38-year-old from Westbury and a female 26-year-old from Freeport were arrested for felony sale and felony possession of crack cocaine.

Feb. 8: Vehicles parked on Locust Street and St James Street South were entered during the overnight hours. There is no reported loss at this time.

Feb. 8: The department is investigating a report of an identity theft at CVS where an unknown subject made a purchase of $213 utilizing the account of another person without the authority or permission to do so.

Feb. 10: The department is investigating a report of unauthorized online transactions totaling more than $400 in the name of an Adelphi University student resident.

Feb. 11: As a result of a commercial vehicle inspection conducted on Clinton Road, 15 vehicles were inspected and five were placed out of service. In addition, 75 tickets were issued for safety and traffic violations, including 18 overweight violations, an excessive load violation, an improper license violation and a defective tires violation.

Feb. 11: Two windows to the Garden City Community Church Nursery School were found damaged by BB pellets.

Feb. 12: Officer Sansone stopped a vehicle in the vicinity of Meadow Street and Washington Avenue for no front license plate. The investigation revealed that the driver, a male 44-year-old from East Rockaway, was driving with a permit only and that the vehicle was unregistered with the rear plate on the vehicle belonging to another vehicle. The vehicle was impounded and the driver was charged with unlicensed operation, unregistered auto, switched license plates, uninspected auto and uninsured operation.
