Crime Blotter: More Stolen Packages, Vehicle Break-Ins

The following arrest information was supplied by the Garden City Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Dec. 23: A 51-year-old woman from New Hyde Park was arrested by Officer Matos at Lord & Taylor for the theft of $600 in merchandise.

Dec. 23: As officers were checking a report of two subjects walking between cars in a driveway on Locust Street at 6:30 a.m., two vehicles at other residences on the street were discovered to have been entered. No items are reported missing at this time.

Dec. 23: Several traffic lights on Hilton Avenue, Rockaway Avenue and Cathedral Avenue were out due to a power outage in the area.

Dec. 24: Witnesses observed a dark colored vehicle driving on the 16th green of the Cherry Valley Country Club.

Dec. 26: Sears reports that a man entered the store and stole seven pairs of boots valued at $995 and fled the store without paying for them.

Dec. 26: A Meadow Street resident reports the theft of a cell phone from the rear yard of her home.

Dec. 26: Several packages were reported stolen from the front of a Fourth Street property at approximately 7:30 p.m. The items were left there by a delivery service 15 minutes earlier.

Dec. 27: A light post to a Chestnut Street residence was found damaged.

Dec. 28: At approx. 12:32 p.m. an unknown man entered the Citibank located at 1050 Franklin Avenue and passed a teller a demand note. The teller complied and the subject fled the scene on foot through a rear door, northbound in the parking lot. Proceeds were an undetermined amount of US currency. For the full story, click here.

Dec. 28: Officers secured the Franklin Avenue train crossing due to a broken railroad gate.

Dec. 29: During the overnight hours, two vehicles were entered on Stewart Avenue and one vehicle was entered at a Warton Place residence. There is no reported loss at this time.
