Crime Blotter: Prostitution, Residential Burglary and a Lewd Act

A look at this week's alleged crimes, reported by the Garden City Police Department.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Garden City Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

July 2: Garden City detectives conducted an investigation on Railroad Avenue that resulted in the arrest of a male 21-year-old from New Hyde Park for two counts of marijuana possession.

July 2: The department received two identity theft reports. During one incident, money from one bank account was transferred without permission to an unauthorized bank account, and during the other incident, unauthorized withdrawals were made from another person’s ATM account.

July 3: Four tires were removed from a vehicle parked at a Somerset Avenue residence.

July 3: Garden City detectives arrested a female 60-year-old from Great Neck for an incident that occurred on June 27 where she allegedly left the scene of a property damage auto accident on Franklin Avenue.

July 3: An equipment bag with sports equipment was removed from a porch at a Rockaway Avenue residence.

July 3: Loose change was removed from a vehicle parked in Garden City Parking Field #10.

July 3: A resident reports seeing a subject described as a male white, 18-20, unshaven, pull up in front of her residence on Chestnut Street and commit a lewd/obscene act inside his vehicle. The vehicle then left the scene towards Clinton Road.

July 3: Officers investigated a one-vehicle accident on Rockaway Avenue in the vicinity of Stewart Avenue. A witness states the vehicle was traveling south when it suddenly turned and veered off the road causing it to overturn. The driver, a male 57-year-old from Danbury CT, was pinned inside and with the assistance of the Garden City Fire Department and Nassau County Emergency Services Bureau, he was extricated from the vehicle, and then transported to Winthrop-University Hospital where he died. The investigation is continuing whether the incident was the result of a medical condition or any other factors.

July 4: During an investigation in Parking Field 2S, Garden City detectives arrested a female 35-year-old from Uniondale for prostitution and a male 26-year-old from Hempstead for patronizing a prostitute.

July 4: Officer Hudak stopped a vehicle for driving without headlights on Clinton Road. The driver was subsequently arrested for driving with 13 outstanding driver's license suspensions.

July 4: A lawn light to a residence was found damaged. A vehicle parked at a Brook Street residence was found damaged.

July 4: Members of the Garden City Special Police assisted the Stewart Manor Fire Department with their annual July 4th parade by conducting traffic at the Stewart Avenue/New Hyde Park Road intersection.

July 4: Officers responded to a traffic light malfunction on Cherry Valley Avenue at Stewart Avenue. 

July 5: Paintings and other items were removed from a Whitehall Boulevard residence under renovation. Entry was apparently made through a rear door, which was found damaged.

July 6: A GPS device was removed from a vehicle parked at an Amherst Street residence.

July 7: Garden City detectives arrested a male 18-year-old from Malverne for leaving the scene of an auto accident that occurred on Clinton Road on June 22.

July 9: Bicycles were reported stolen from a garage on Brompton Road and a garage on Kensington Road.

July 9: Loose change and a GPS were removed from a vehicle parked at a St. Paul’s Place residence.
