Police Make Arrest in Rockville Centre Murder

Police have arrested an 18-year-old man in connection to the death of a Lynbrook woman found dead in Rockville Centre on Thursday night.

Franklin Square Duo Charged with New Hyde Park Burglary

A man and woman from Franklin Square have been arrested for allegedly burglarizing two apartments on Jericho Turnpike in New Hyde Park on Saturday, Aug. 24.

According to detectives, at about 4:32 p.m. on Aug. 24, Frank Simone, 29 and Allyson Tibaldi, 26, went to a commercial building on Jericho Turnpike with their three-year old daughter. While Tibaldi kept watch, Simone climbed to a second story landing and entered two apartments, stealing jewelry and prescription narcotics before the two fled the scene. Read more here.

Second Arrest in Valley Stream Armed Robberies

A second arrest was made in a rash of Fourth of July robberies in Valley Stream, according to Nassau County Police.

Damon Jones, 22, of Valley Stream, was arrested Monday on a battery of charges surrounding three late night robberies and one attempt on July 4.

Jones, along with Michael Davidson, 19, also of Valley Stream, allegedly held up seven people at gunpoint between 11 p.m. and 12 a.m., cops reported. Davidson and Jones made off with several cellphones and were finally caught in the middle of their final holdup just before midnight, police said.

Police interrupted the last robbery and the two fled on foot after Davidson tossed the gun into a front yard, police said. A struggle ensued as officers tried to apprehend Davidson and two officers sustained minor injuries. Davidson was arrested at the scene and charged with four counts of second-degree robbery, two counts of second-degree assault, and second-degree criminal use of a firearm.

Jones was charged with two counts of first-degree robbery, two counts of second-degree robbery, and first-degree criminal use of a firearm.

Davidson was arrested in 2012 after officers intervened in another robbery.

Cops: Man Causes Destruction with Mack Truck Full of Stolen Equipment

An Elmont man filled a mack truck with stolen equipment and slammed into multiple utility poles, causing $500,000 worth of damage, according to Nassau County Police.

Joel Grasman, 51, of Elmont, went to the Richmond Hill MTA yard where he worked and loaded a Mack truck with welding equipment and brought it to his home Tuesday, cops said.

After unloading the equipment, he tried to drive the truck with the "boom" crane in the upright position, taking down LIPA, Verizon, and Optimum utilities and trees as he drove, cops said.

After causing $500,000 worth of damage to the area, Grasman abandoned the truck on the Southern State Parkway ramp at Exit 15, police reported.

Grasman was arrested and charged with second and third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, first-degree criminal tampering, and second-degree criminal mischief. He was arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
