Crimes Nearby: Mom Allegedly Drives Drunk With Kid, Murder Arrest

Teens Robbed at Gunpoint in Lakeview

Two teenage boys were reportedly robbed at gunpoint Thursday night by a group of men while they were walking to a bus stop in Lakeview.

According to police, the robbery occurred near Tanglewood Road around 10 p.m. The two victims, ages 14 and 17, apparently had their jewelry, sneakers and cell phones taken by a group of four or five unknown men.

The subjects had bandanas covering their faces and fled northbound on Tanglewood Road, police reported. No additional description of the subjects is available at this time.

There were no injuries reported.

Cops: Williston Park Woman Drove Drunk With Child in Car

A Williston Park woman was arrested on DWI and other charges after police officers observed her failing to remain in a single lane of traffic on Searingtown Road in North Hills late Saturday night.

According to police, Maria Hamilton, 37, was driving a 2005 Nissan Sentra when officers stopped her. Police reported that Hamilton appeared to be intoxicated and officers placed her under arrest. During the arrest, a 1-year-old girl was found in the back seat of the vehicle.

Hamilton is being charged with Aggravated Driving while Intoxicated, Endangering the Welfare of a Child and other traffic violations. She will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Sunday.

East Meadow Man Arrested for Murder

An East Meadow man was arrested for his alleged involvement in the murder of a Hempstead man, which took place on April 26.

According to Nassau County Homicide Squad detectives, a 911 call was received at 4:39 a.m. in regards to a male lying in the street on Martin Avenue in Hempstead. When Hempstead Police arrived, it was discovered that the victim had suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

The man, identified as Stanley Cater, 47, of Hempstead, was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead by hospital staff at 5:39 a.m. 

After an investigation, police arrested Herber Guzman, 40, of East Meadow. He has been charged with second degree murder and his arraignment is scheduled for May 3 at First District Court in Hempstead.

Two Arrested for Illegal Alcohol Sales

Nassau County POP/PEP officers conducted a Project 21 detail targeting the sale of alcoholic beverages to minors on April 25 at West Hempstead Beverage in West Hempstead and the Getty gas station in Franklin Square. An undercover Police Agent under the age of 21 entered both convenience stores and at each one, purchased an alcoholic beverage without being asked to present identification of age, according to police. This resulted in the arrests of Nicholas Milbank, of Elmont, an employee at the Getty station, and Ismael Martinez-Munoz, of Hempstead, who was working at West Hempstead Beverage.
