Electrical Fire Evacuated Macy's Tuesday

A small electrical fire in the store's basement broke out before 5 p.m.

Macy's in Roosevelt Field was evacuated late Tuesday afternoon after a small electrical fire broke out inside the store's basement, Patch has confirmed.

No major damage has been reported. A build up of smoke inside the store led to the evacuation, according to a mall spokeswoman.

The mall was unaffected and remains open. Once the smoke vented out, Macy’s was expected to reopen.

Firefighters from numerous departments responded to the incident, including units from Westbury, Carle Place and East Meadow.
