Two truck/train trestle collisions in two days; police investigating man who allegedly exposed himself to 10-year-old girls.

April 22-26: Someone broke three light globes in the Garden City Pool area (value: $60).

April 24: At 3 p.m. Officer Cristiano stopped a male 22-year-old from Williston Park for speeding (54 mph in a 30 mph zone). He was arrested after it was determined he had a revoked license for a prior DWI. He was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation and speeding.

April 27: During the overnight, someone broke a passenger door window (value: $100) to a vehicle parked on Meadow Street and removed various construction equipment (value: $500).

April 27: During the overnight, someone entered two unlocked vehicles parked at a Hilton Avenue residence; no reported items missing.

April 27: A male 48-year-old from Brentwood was operating a truck northbound on Cherry Valley Avenue following directions from his GPS when he came in collision with the Cherry Valley train trestle. He attempted to leave the scene but was stopped by responding police officers. He was cited for disobeying bridge clearance signs and for leaving the scene of an accident. He was also charged with reckless driving for attempting to drive away with parts of his truck hanging over touching the ground. The truck received extensive damage; the train trestle was not apparently damaged.

April 28: A male 28-year-old from Jackson Heights was operating a truck southbound on Nassau Boulevard and came in collision with the Nassau Boulevard train trestle. He attempted to leave the scene but was stopped by responding police officers. He was cited for disobeying bridge clearance signs and for leaving the scene of an accident. The truck received extensive damage; the train trestle was not apparently damaged.

April 29: The police department is investigating a theft of a handbag containing $20 and credit cards from an office at a Commercial Avenue business at 8:42 a.m.

April 29: Someone threw a piece of wood through a residential window on Euston Road (damage: $200).

April 30: Two 10-year-old females were walking along Vassar Street at 6:20 p.m. when a male in a tan van said something to them while exposing himself to them and acting in a lewd manor. The subject is described as a male white, 40-50 years of age, with a goatee, balding, wearing black jeans. The investigation is continuing.

May 1: Officers responded to a report of a male possibly breaking into cars on Commercial Avenue. Officers found a person matching the given description; a male 27-year-old from Hempstead. He was arrested after it was determined that he had an outstanding Nassau County traffic warrant.

May 1: During the overnight hours, unknown person(s) scratched the rear bumper and removed several lug nuts from a vehicle that was parked in a Weyford Terrace driveway.

May 2: Officer Hennessy stopped a male 30-year-old from Hempstead on Newmarket Road and Kensington Road for driving with an obstructed view to his front windshield (hanging objects from mirror). He was then arrested for driving with a suspended license due to a prior DWI.

May 2: Someone entered a vehicle parked in an Avalon Road driveway overnight. No items reported missing at this time.

May 4: Officer Sommer stopped a male 23-year-old from Rockville Centre on County Seat Drive for speeding (47 in a 30 mph zone) and for driving while talking on a cell phone. He was arrested after it was determined he had three suspensions on three different dates.
