Here's a rundown of police calls in the village.

Garden City police responded to the following calls since Tuesday, Dec. 29:

Tuesday, Dec. 29:

  • A male 31-year-old from Hempstead backed into the gas pumps and damaged them at the Auto Fix Service Station on Franklin Ave, according to police. He then fled the scene where he was arrested by Police Officer Conti at his residence. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and no insurance.

  • An investigation by Garden City detectives resulted in the arrest of a female 49-year-old from Mineola, a cleaner at a Seventh Street office, for the theft of $290 of holiday gifts consisting of gift cards, toys and clothing on Dec. 18. 
  • An investigation by Garden City detectives resulted in the arrest of a male 16-year-old from Garden City for breaking a window to a Jackson Street residence by shooting a potato from a potato gun on Dec. 19. He was charged with felony criminal mischief and reckless endangerment.

Sunday, Jan. 3:

  • A Whitehall Boulevard residence was burglarized. A rear door was found damaged and an unknown amount of jewelry was reported stolen. 
  • A Lefferts Road residence was burglarized. A rear door was found damaged and an iPod and laptop computer were reported stolen.

Between Christmas and New Year's, Garden City police officers also made the following arrests:

Jan. 3 - A male 38-year-old from Port Washington was operating under the influence while traveling on Franklin Avenue at Third Street.

Jan. 1 - A female 26-year-old from Westbury was arrested for DWI while traveling northbound on Franklin Avenue north of Stewart Avenue .

Dec. 29 - A male 25-year-old from West Hempstead was operating under the influence while traveling on South Avenue west of Rockaway Avenue.

Dec. 25 - A female 19-year-old from Garden City was driving under the influence on Kildare Road.
