UPDATE: Garden City Man Arrested for Strangling His Elderly Mother
Allegedly called cops to confess what he had done.
Garden City police arrested 56-year-old James Olsen of College Place on murder charges Thursday after he called police and told them he strangled his mother, Nassau County Homicide Squad detectives said.
When Garden City and Nassau County police arrived at the Garden City home, they found Olsen's 88-year-old mother, Ruth Olsen, dead.
The man was also found at the scene with self inflicted slash wounds to his wrists, county detectives said. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
