Garden City Special Police Take the Oath

Newly elected officers, members swear in.

Mayor Don Brudie administered the oath of office Thursday to the newly elected officers and members of the Garden City Special Police organization.

  • Captain David Carpentier has been a resident of Garden City for more than 30 years. He began his membership in the Special Police organization 17 years ago serving as patrol officer, sergeant and lieutenant to his current rank as captain. He is a vice president at Merrill Lynch Wealth Management and resides in the village with his wife, Katie, and their two-year-old daughter.
  • Lieutenant Alan Dustman has been a resident of Garden City for the past 15 years and a member of the Special Police organization for 11 years, serving as a patrol officer and sergeant before being elected to the rank of lieutenant. He was formerly in the Air Force and was honorably discharged after having attained the rank of captain. He is a licensed psychologist maintaining a practice in Garden City. He resides in the village with his wife, Mary. They have a daughter and three sons.
  • Sergeant John Koch has been a resident of Garden City for the past 24 years and a member of the Special Police organization for seven years, serving as a patrol officer before being elected to the rank of sergeant. He is a supervisor for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) and resides in the village with his wife, Michelle, and their three children. All three children volunteer for the community, working with the Garden City Fire Departent and Mineola Ambulance Corp.
  • Special Police Officer Adam Burak is 23 years old and has resided in Garden City for nine years. He became a member of the Special Police organization in the summer of 2009. He is currently a student attending Adelphi University studying criminal justice.
  • Special Police Officer Thomas Imperatore is a 27-year-old resident of Garden City. He is employed as a martial arts instructor (black belt) with Shaolin Defense Center in Baldwin and has attained a black belt in karate. He is the newest member of the Special Police organization, having been accepted just a month ago. He plans to enter the law enforcement profession or government employment.
