Police: 16-Year-Old Shot Dead in Hempstead

Nassau police are investigating a shooting in Hempstead Friday night that claimed the life of a 16-year-old. 

According to detectives, Hempstead Police officers responded to a 911 call in front of 245 Bennett Avenue shortly before midnight. 

Upon arrival, officers found Robert Brown, of Westbury, with a gunshot wound, police said. The teen was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2:09 a.m.

No arrests have been made. Police said the investigation into the shooting is ongoing and they asked anyone with information to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.  All callers will remain anonymous.
