Police: East Meadow Man Had Grenade Launchers, 14 Guns in Home

The arsenal of weapons was found in a Bernice Drive home on Friday.

An East Meadow man, who was arrested for a domestic incident Friday, was subsequently found to be in possession of an arsenal of weapons.

New York State Police said they found 14 guns, two grenade launchers and large amounts of ammunition in the Bernice Drive home of Michael Anderson.

According to police, while conducting a traffic stop on the Wantagh State Parkway, a state trooper was approached by a hysterical female who stated her boyfriend was chasing her from a domestic incident which occurred at their residence. The trooper requested assistance from other uniform patrols while he secured the woman at the scene.

Two more troopers responded to scene and observed the woman's boyfriend, Anderson walking along the shoulder of the parkway in the direction of the first trooper in an agitated state, police said.

The two responding troopers stopped Anderson and placed him under arrest for assault in the third degree, police said. During the arrest, state troopers subsequently found a small amount of marijuana on Anderson and additionally charged him with unlawful possession of marijuana.

The woman was transported to a local hospital where she was treated for her injuries sustained during the domestic incident and released, police said.

According to police, during a domestic incident report interview, one of the troopers discovered that Anderson was possibly in possession of several firearms which were located at his residence. The Troop L Gun Investigation Unit and a uniform detail responded to Anderson's residence on Bernice Drive and conducted a search.

Seized during the search were 14 weapons, including four handguns, two assault/military weapons, one shotgun and seven rifles. Also seized were two grenade launchers, several thousand rounds of military ammunition and numerous loaded high capacity magazines.

According to Newsday, Anderson did not have a permit for any of the at least 12 weapons found, which were located in a hidden room behind the clothes in the his bedroom closet

Anderson was additionally charged with five counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

Friday's arrest comes just days after a Woodmere man was found in possession of 15 destructive devices, particularly pipe bombs, 15 improvised grenades and 50 pounds of ingredients that could be used to make explosives, as well as about 100 handguns and 20 long guns.

ATTEMPTED HOME INVASION calls have doubled recently.. Nassau county police say... Be aware of your surroundings and report any suspicious people!!!! Usually burglars case the area before they strike!! remember you have a right to defend your house !!!!!!

More like the right to be sued and jailed....In this day and age,,someone can break into your house and if u shoot,,,,u will be involved in a long drawn out police investigation and if the media gets wind,,,,well its 50-50..they can make u out a hero or some gun wielding fanatic looking for trouble...
