House Cleaner Busted on Hidden Camera Stealing Money, Jewelry
Maria Iezzi, 56, of Elmont stole money and approximately $45,000 worth of assorted jewelry from a Euston Road home, police said.
An Elmont woman, while employed as a house cleaner, was busted on hidden camera stealing money and assorted jewelry from a Garden City home, village police said Saturday.
On March 22 the 50-year-old victim said she noticed approximately $45,000 worth of jewelry missing from her Euston Road home, detectives report.
The victim installed a hidden camera in her bedroom and on April 12 Maria Iezzi, 56, was seen on camera taking money out of a drawer. Police reports further state that the defendant later exited the home carrying a white plastic bag that she placed on the passenger street and drove off.
Village police conducted a vehicle stop on Stewart and Garfield avenues and after an investigation placed Iezzi under arrest without incident, detectives said.
A search incidental to an arrest found the defendant in possession of three pieces of silverware, a gold colored charm, a silver colored bracelet and a tennis bracelet all belonging to the victim, police said.
Iezzi was being charged with grand larceny, 3rd degree; criminal possession of stolen property, 3rd degree; and petit larceny. She was arraigned on April 13 at First District Court in Hempstead.
