Whitehall Boulevard Residents Victims of Grand Larceny

When one subject diverted the victims' attention to a flat tire the other subject removed pocketbooks from inside their vehicle, police said.

Residents of Whitehall Boulevard became victims of a grand larceny upon returning home from shopping Wednesday afternoon, according to Garden City police.

Commissioner Kenneth Jackson confirmed that two women, returning home from a jewelry store in Franklin Square, were approached by two male Hispanics believed to be in their 20s as they exited their vehicle in the driveway.

The subjects alerted them of a flat tire, which police confirm was punctured. When one subject diverted the victims' attention to the flat tire the other subject removed pocketbooks from inside the vehicle, according to police.

The subjects fled in a tan/brown minivan, according to Jackson. There was apparently a similar incident in Stewart Manor earlier in the day.

No weapons were brandished during the incident, which is under further investigation at this time.
