TD Bank Robber Apprehended

Nassau County police arrested a Bronx man Friday in connection with the January robbery of the Franklin Avenue bank.

Police apprehended James Pope, 35, at 10:45 a.m. Friday morning in Queens without incident.

On Jan. 30, Nassau County detectives said a male and female entered the Franklin Avenue bank around 7 p.m. and demanded cash from the teller. After obtaining an undetermined amount of money, the suspects fled on foot out the front door and ran towards the back parking lot, police said.

On Feb. 4, police say Pope entered the TD Bank located at 2 Great Neck Road and threatened to shoot the female teller but did not display a weapon.

The teller complied with his demands and handed over an undetermined amount of money. Police report Pope fled on foot northbound on Great Neck Road. No injuries were reported during this incident. There were four employees and one customer in the bank at the time of the robbery.

Pope has been charged with robbery, 3rd degree for the Great Neck Plaza robbery and additionally charged with robbery, 2nd degree for the Garden City robbery.

His arraignment was scheduled for today at the county court in Mineola.
