Teens Busted With Fireworks at Community Park

Police issue appearance tickets for trespass to eight males from West Hempstead and Franklin Square.

At approximately midnight on June 21, Garden City police officers responded to Garden City Community Park for reports of disorderly youths and fireworks.

An investigation at the scene resulted in the issuance of appearance tickets for trespass to eight males, ages 18-19, from West Hempstead and Franklin Square.

With the Fourth of July just days away, Mayor John Watras, in this week's Mayor's Message, reminds residents that the police department "will be on alert to interdict illegal fireworks use to prevent community disruption and often needless injury."

"I strongly urge parents, who are the ultimate and most effective preventers, to ban the use of fireworks," Mayor Watras said.
