The Garden City village board will hold a regular meeting Thursday
evening in the village hall boardroom to discuss a full agenda.
Will the board authorize Public Works director Robert Mangan to request that Nassau County place rumble strips on Rockaway Avenue in the vicinity of Garden City High School to control speed?
Will trustees also authorize Mangan to request the county perform a study in order to reconfigure the Merillon Avenue/Rockaway Avenue intersection and place a traffic light at the location to permit pedestrian crossing?
Residents of Rockaway Avenue have been pleading with the Traffic Commission and board of trustees to do something to mitigate what they describe as dangerous conditions that already exist in the area.
Also on the agenda for board approval are three invoice payments, including one to Keystone Information Systems in the amount of $22,541. This billing, according to today's agenda, reflects work done to provide a custom program on the village's website that allows residents to pay their water and tax bills online.
The meeting begins at 8 p.m. in the village hall boardroom. All residents are encouraged to attend.
