McKevitt: Facebook, Labor Department Team up to Highlight Jobs

“By opening up the networking potential of Facebook to more employers, we can start to get people back to work,” said McKevitt.

Assemblyman Tom McKevitt, R,C,I-East Meadow, today highlighted a new partnership between the federal Department of Labor and social-networking site Facebook, known as the Social Jobs Partnership, to host a national jobs database.

This new Facebook feature will include links to employment services provided by the Department of Labor, the National Association of State Workforce Agencies, the National Association of Colleges and Employers and the DirectEmployers Association in order to make employment opportunities more accessible.

“By opening up the networking potential of Facebook to more employers, we can start to get people back to work,” said McKevitt. “With an 8 percent unemployment rate in our state, this user-friendly national database is a great way for people to look for jobs that best match their qualifications. Bringing together employers, recruiters, college career services and government agencies will help New Yorkers to find jobs.”

For more information on the Social Jobs Partnership, interested individuals can look online at www.facebook.com/socialjobs or follow Assemblyman McKevitt on Facebook at www.facebook.com/AssemblymanTomMcKevitt. For those interested in more information on this or any other state matter, they may reach Assemblyman McKevitt at his district office at 516-739-5119 or via email at mckevit@assembly.state.ny.us.
