POLL: Blakeman, Scaturro, or Vista for GOP Congressional Nominee?

Republicans Bruce Blakeman, Frank Scaturro, and Mike Vista will square off in next week's primaries. Who will win?

Three Republicans are vying for their party's nomination to run for Congress in the Fourth District, a position Rep. Carolyn McCarthy announced she will give up after this term.

Bruce Blakeman, Frank Scaturro, and Mike Vista all come from legal backgrounds and have similar goals in their campaigns but have traveled very different paths in their careers.

Blakeman, 58, has served as a Nassau County Legislator and was a nominee for State Comptroller in 1998 and U.S. Senate in 2010. Blakeman's platforms revolve around tax cuts and decreased business regulation, strengthening the U.S. Military, repealing the Affordable Care Act, and finding new energy sources. "I am the true, grassroots Republican in the race," Blakeman told Newsday. "And, if voters want to elect a conservative Republican to Congress, I am the only one in the race who can defeat the Democratic candidate."

Scaturro, 41, is an attorney who ran unsuccessfully in 2010 and 2012 for the Republican nomination. Scaturro also support cutting taxes, encouraging job creation, renewing a commitment to armed forces, finding a "new direction" for healthcare by repealing the Affordable Care Act, and more. "If we want to address this crisis of mismanagement in government that is mortgaging our future, then change needs to start with someone who has walked the walk and someone who has stood up to the special interests," Scaturro told Newsday.

A U.S. Army and Operation Iraqi Freedom veteran, Mike Vista has also served in law and was a prosecutor for the King's County District Attorney's office.

Vista has promised to fight tax increases that affect businesses, repeal Obamacare, increase National Defense Spending and benefits for veterans, and to create longterm jobs. Read more here.

"Washington spending is out of control and more middle class Americans on Long Island are struggling just to stay afloat," said Vista. "I have spent my entire life on Long Island, served my country in Iraq, and I want to serve my fellow Long Islanders in Congress. Send a real fighter to Washington this November!"

Primaries are Tuesday for the Fourth District.
