Sound Off: Bringing Back Belmont Parade

Tell us whether village officials should re-instate this component of the Belmont Festival.

Seventh Street was filled with activities, live music, dance performances, and delicious food, but there was something missing from the celebration that had been a staple in the past -- a parade.

The parade component of the festival had been scrapped in 2009, but at Thursday's meeting of the Garden City village board, Mayor Donald Brudie suggested officials look into bringing it back. (to view the full story.)

This shouldn't even be voted on...it's 100% yes. And there should be at least one more "Belmont parade and festival" maybe en of July to celebrate Garden City sports.

I was just talking with some other dad's that we should have a joint boys and girls lacrosse parade honoring the State Champs, but an annual all-sports, all grades parade is a better idea. But I would suggest have it end of tge school year, in July so many kids and families are gone
