Dr. Kenneth K. Saunders Appointed Officer in Charge of NCC

He most recently served as executive vice president of the community college.

Dr. Kenneth K. Saunders has been named Officer in Charge of Nassau Community College (NCC). The appointment was effective July 31.

“I am honored by the confidence that the NCC Board of Trustees has placed in me, and I look forward to working with all segments of the campus and the Long Island community in advancing the mission of Nassau Community College of providing an affordable and accessible higher education to our students and serving the region’s needs in a multiplicity of ways,” Dr. Saunders stated in a press release provided by NCC.

Geoffrey Prime, chair of the NCC Board of Trustees, said he's "enthusiastic" about the appointment. “The Board of Trustees looks forward to working with Dr. Saunders and all members of the College community in meeting our mutual goals on behalf of our students. Dr. Saunders’ background at NCC well positions him to take a leadership role in this extraordinarily important effort," he said.

Dr. Saunders earned a Doctor of Education in higher education management and leadership from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Education in guidance and counseling from Howard University. He also attended the Institute for Educational Management at Harvard.

He brings more than 28 years of experience as a senior higher education administrator at several institutions, including the State University of New York at Old Westbury. He most recently served as executive vice president of NCC and, prior to that, was the college's vice president of academic student services for 12 years.
