Garden City Librarian Receives Prestigious Award

Margaux DelGuidice has been named a "Mover & Shaker."

Margaux DelGuidice, librarian and media specialist at Garden City High School, has been named a “Mover & Shaker” by Library Journal.

In its March 15, 2013 issue, the journal named 50 outstanding professionals committed to providing excellent service to meet the needs of the people they serve. Ms. DelGuidice was selected because of her commitment to librarianship and her advocacy efforts that highlight the link between certified school librarians and student achievement.

In addition to her work in the high school, she also serves her community of Freeport by working part-time as a youth services librarian and is an adjunct professor of academic writing and research at St. Joseph’s College in Patchogue.

She is co-author of the book Make a Big Impact @ Your School Board Meeting (Linworth, 2012).

“Each member of this year’s Movers & Shakers class embodies service to their community and a passion for advancing libraries and their profession,” said Mike Kelley, Library Journal editor-in-chief. Read more about new inductees at http://lj.libraryjournal.com/movers2013.
