Adelphi University's Mychael Fabio competed in the finals of the 400m dash at the NCAA Division II Championships this weekend at the Neta and Eddie DeRose Thunderbowl hosted by Colorado State Pueblo. After qualifying in the preliminary round on Thursday in a personal best of 46.63, the Huntington native advanced to the finals along with eight of the country's fastest in the event.
In his heat, Fabio placed fifth overall in a time of 47.17 to earn All-American honors; the second of his career. Akino Ming, of Johnson C. Smith, won the event in 46.14. Fabio's four points put Adelphi on the board and marks the first time the Panthers scored points in a national meet since the 2010 indoor season. Additionally, he is currently the highest finisher among all Northeast-10 Conference participants.
Fabio also placed Adelphi in a three-way tie for 38th place.
