Following a national search, Adelphi University has appointed Dr. Barbara Nemecek as interim dean of its Robert B. Willumstad School of Business.
Dr. Nemecek is currently the dean and the Louis J. and Ramona Rodriguez Distinguished Professor at the Dillard College of Business Administration at Midwestern State University in Texas. She served for four years on the board of directors of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB), and has served in leadership positions in schools of business, multiple professional organizations, regional business councils, and has substantial private business experience.
“A business school dean for more than 15 years, Dr. Nemecek brings vision and experience to the newly named Willumstad School of Business,” said provost and senior vice president for academic affairs Gayle D. Insler. “Her experience on the AACSB board also puts her at the forefront of business education. She is an innovative thinker and her leadership will offer a new direction for our business school. I am thankful to the search committee members for their work in helping us select Dr. Nemecek.”
Prior to leading the Dillard College of Business Administration, Dr. Nemecek served as the founding dean of the College of Business and Economics at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and was dean and professor of marketing at Montana State University-Billings. She has extensive curriculum innovation experience from more than three decades of business and business education experiences, is published in the field of marketing and has served as a peer reviewer for AACSB. Dr. Nemecek has formed angel networks to align institutional learning opportunities with regional economic development, and has leveraged relationships with school of business advisory boards to evolve and develop programs to meet workforce needs and enhance program innovations.

Dr. Nemecek received her B.S and M.S. from the University of Wisconsin-Stout and her Ph.D. in business administration from the University of Minnesota.
