Dr. Feirsen: School Budget Proposes No Major Changes

Superintendent says in a time of "great fiscal challenge" no major changes are proposed, adding all operations will "pretty much look the same as it does this year."

Only a handful of residents attended Tuesday night's school budget hearing, where superintendent of schools Dr. Robert Feirsen made his final budget presentation.

The district's proposed overall budget totals $107,602,366. The spending plan calls for a budget-to-budget increase of $3,386,838 or 3.25 percent, and a projected tax levy increase (with STAR) of 3.19 percent.

Dr. Feirsen said in a time of "great fiscal challenge" no major changes are proposed, adding all operations will "pretty much look the same as it does this year."

The school budget vote is May 21, 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Garden City High School.
