Garden City Middle School Literary Magazine Receives Highest Award

The magazine was one of only 38 student magazines chosen for the honor in the nation.

Congratulations to club advisor Julie Zafiropoulos and the student editors and contributors to Dead Poets Society, Garden City Middle School’s literary magazine, for receipt of the “Highest Award” in New York State for its 2010-2011 publication.

The magazine was the sole recipient of the distinction for New York State and one of only 38 student magazines so chosen for the honor in the nation.

The students’ submission included more than 100 pages of poetry, short narratives and art work. Awards in three categories: superior, excellence and above average, are given annually by the National Council of Teachers of English Program to Recognize Excellence in Student Literature (PRESLM) to secondary schools entering literary works.
