Umpires Association Honors Garden City Baseball

The Nassau County Umpires Association honored Coach Rich Smith and the Garden City varsity baseball team with its annual Sportsmanship Award.

In June, the Nassau County Umpires Association held its annual awards banquet honoring the top baseball programs in Nassau County. The annual award is presented to the school, and their coach, from among the 57 varsity programs in Nassau County and is voted upon by approximately 250 umpires in throughout the League.

After 40 years of coaching the Trojans, with more than 600 wins, three county championships and a state championship crown, Coach Rich Smith still had a huge smile on his face when presented with this award.

Congratulations to Smith, the coaching staff and the boys of the varsity baseball team for this honor.
