GC Student's Seatbelt Idea Wins Second Place in Hannon Competition

A Stratford Avenue Elementary School student won second place in Sen. Kemp Hannon's "There Ought to Be a Law" competition.

Garden City's Ryan Padala created one of the the winning ideas that involved seat belts on school buses.

“It should be mandatory for kids to wear seatbelts on a school bus because over the years, I have witnessed a lot of injuries that occur on the bus," Padala said. "Kids hit their heads or trip and fall while standing up, so this should be enforced by NYS law.”
