Stratford School Play - Disney's The Little Mermaid Jr.

All of the 5th grade stars of Stratford School shined in their play of “The Little Mermaid Jr.” under the musical direction of the talented Meredith Lavin.  The performances were held on Thursday, February 7th and Friday, February 8th with the last night performance postponed until February 14th due to inclement weather.  Even old man winter could not stop Ariel from becoming part of our world.

The children were amazing and worked so hard to put on brilliant performances that left “footprints on the sands of Stratford School.”  They made memories with their Merfriends that would last a lifetime.  Each performance was a “wave” of entertainment full of energy and enthusiasm.  The 5th graders left the audience in awe.  They were all dedicated and rehearsed for months.  The beautiful scenery was expertly handled by the stage crew.

Congratulations to the two casts for a wonderful , entertaining Disney production, and to Musical Director Meredith Lavin, Choreographer Debbie Tavernese, Assistant Dance Coach Gail Issing, and backdrop designer George Lucas.  Also many thanks to Sound Director Kevin Pollitt, Stage Crew Coordinator Rich Madden, and of course to all the dedicated 5th grade teachers;  Michelle Ciquera, Laura Connolly, Janet Dougherty, Marge DiMartino, Leigh Dowden, Madelyn Fisher-Fogel, Eileen Hoey, Seth Messier and Donna Cornelius.  Special thanks to Home Depot for building a smooth sailing ship for Prince Eric. Also a big thanks to the entire group of parent volunteers who through their hard work and dedication helped make the play a huge success.

This group of 5th graders is truly talented and remarkable.  They transformed Stratford School to a magical place “under the sea” and made us all “part of their world!”
