Waldorf School to Parents: Playgrounds Closed Tuesday

Arctic blast will keep children indoors Jan. 7.

In a message sent to parents, guardians, faculty and staff of Waldorf School Monday afternoon, officials said they are "closely monitoring" the frigid temperatures due to hit our area Monday night into early Tuesday morning and advised parents that all playgrounds will be closed.

Tuesday's high is expected to reach only 13 with wind chill values as low as -14. Wind gusts could be as high as 44 mph, according to the National Weather Service. A wind chill advisory will be in effect Monday evening at 9 p.m. through Tuesday, 6 p.m.

"In all likelihood, school will be in-session; however all school playgrounds will be closed to all students and classes tomorrow, Tuesday, January 7th. Students will not be allowed outside under any circumstances," the message read.

"In anticipation of tomorrow's frigid temperatures, please remember to send your children to school properly dressed. We will continue to monitor these weather developments and keep you posted. Together, keeping the safety of our students is our primary concern."
