Adelphi Transfer Sets Stony Brook Women's Lacrosse Single-Game Assist Record

Claire Petersen registers seven assists in her first game with Seawolves.

Adelphi University transfer Claire Petersen began her Division I women’s lacrosse career in grand style this past Sunday.

The former university standout set a Stony Brook women’s lacrosse single-game record for assists with seven in the Seawolves’ 18-5 home win over Connecticut State. Petersen also tied the Stony Brook single-game record for points with nine. It was Petersen’s Stony Brook debut after transferring from Adelphi where she led the Lady Panthers to Division II national titles in 2010 and 2011.

Petersen, a two-time All-American selection at Adelphi, was named the 2011 IWLCA Division II National Attacker of the Year after scoring 182 points, including 57 goals and an NCAA-leading 125 assists. The 182 points and 125 assists were both NCAA single-season records.
