Garden City Basketball to Host NBA FIT-Dribble Dish and Swish Competition

Free event is open to everyone and will be held on Wednesday starting at 6:30 p.m. at St Paul's.

Garden City Basketball has once again been selected to host a local NBA FIT/WNBA FIT Dribble, Dish and Swish competition.

This free event is open to everyone and will be held on Wednesday starting at 6:30 p.m. at St Paul’s. Those interested in participating do not have to be registered with Garden City Basketball.

The NBA FIT / WNBA FIT Dribble, Dish & Swish program presented by Pepperidge Farm® Flavor Blasted® Goldfish® provides boys and girls, between the ages of 7-12, the opportunity to showcase their basketball skills in a time-based national competition against their peers.

Boys and girls in three separate age divisions (7-8, 9-10, and 11-12) compete against each other in a basketball skills course that challenges participants to dribble, pass and shoot accurately as quickly as possible.

For the local competition, children ages 7-10 should arrive at 6:30 p.m. and children ages 11-12 before 7 p.m. There are three levels of the overall competition.

Local competitions are held by Nov. 20. The top three boys and girls per age division in each NBA market will advance to regional competitions. The regional competitions will be held between Dec. 3 and Jan. 29. Previous regional events for the NY Knicks/NY Liberty have been hosted at Madison Square Garden or the Knicks practice facility in Westchester.

The top two boys and girls per age division in the country will advance to the national finals. The national Finals will take place on the Pepperidge Farm® Flavor Blasted® Goldfish® court in February in Orlando, FL for a head-to-head competition.

In its five years of hosting this event, Garden City Basketball has had a number of local Garden City contestants that advanced to the regional competition (many winning the NYC regional) and one contestant that went to the national level competition held at the 2010 All-Star festival in Dallas.
