Garden City basketball star earns spot on the fourth team All-State.

The New York State Sportswriters and Coaches Organization for Girls Sports released the all-star teams Wednesday, with one player making the cut for this year's All-State team.

Garden City forward Christina Mangels was named to the All-State Class A fourth team.

It is the second consecutive year that the forward has been named to the All-State team. In 2010, she was named to the All-County team as a sophomore.

Mangels, considered to be one of the best rebounders in the entire state, helped lead the Lady Trojans to a Class A finals appearance this season against top-ranked North Shore.

Earlier in the playoffs, Mangels grabbed a career-high 31 rebounds against seventh-seeded Bethpage.

However, Mangels won't be doing her damage on the basketball court in college. The three-sport athlete has signed a letter of intent to play in goal for the Georgetown Hoyas women's soccer team in the fall.

Mangels is also a member of the Garden City girls lacrosse team.
