Garden City Swimmers Post Best Times at Meets

Lindsay Schlichte, Joe Lozano and Delaney Hall excel in their signature events.

Garden City swimmers Lindsay Schlichte, Joe Lozano and Delaney Hall all posted best times at two meets to end the summer season.

Schlichte, a 2013 Garden City High School graduate, enhanced her legacy as one of the region’s "best ever" distance swimmers when she competed at the U.S. Open in her signature event, the 1500 meter Freestyle. Schlichte, who will swim for the Duke Blue Devils, also competed at the Speedo Junior Nationals, the national championship for swimmers 18 years and under. Both championships were held in Irvine, Calif.

Lozano and Hall, who will start their senior and junior years respectively at Garden City High School, also competed at Junior Nationals.

Lozano posted a time of 2:20.24, which is faster than the qualifying time standard for the 2012 Olympic Trials (2:20.79), in the 200 meter breaststroke at Junior Nationals. Delaney ended the season ranked 13th in the U.S. for 16 year olds with his time of 2:20.96.
