Garden City U10 Baseball One Win from District Title

The district team plays for the championship Tuesday night at the Willis Avenue Fields in Mineola.

The U10 Garden City boys district baseball team has opened the district tournament strongly with three consecutive wins against Garden City South, Floral Park, and what some believe to be Garden City's biggest competition, Franklin Square.

After a 12-1 win over Garden City South and an 11-0 win over Floral Park, the Garden City U10 team beat the Franklin Square district  squad in a tough win by a score of 3-2.

Andrew Luglio pitched a fantastic game with Jake Fraher taking the mound to close out the win.

In the final inning, with the bases loaded and no outs, Garden City's team won the game with three consecutive outs. The first out was a grounder to Michael Rasquin who threw to Brian Boland for a force out at home. The second out, was a catch by pitcher Jake Fraher. The final out was an unbelievable line drive catch by T.J. Schmitt at first base to end the game.

Rounding out the team is an incredible defensive force comprised of Jackson Bautch, Steven Baymack, Joe Griffin, Patrick Ilardi, Joseph Macchiarola, Shane Ross, Christian Smith and Paul Varano.

Please come out on Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. at Willis Avenue Fields in Mineola to help these boys bring the district title to Garden City!
